WEB - Where Everybody Belongs

WEB is a middle school transition program that welcomes 6th/7th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. WEB, an acronym for Where Everybody Belongs, is built on the belief that students want to and can help other students succeed. The WEB middle school transition program trains members of the 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders; as positive role models, WEB Leaders are motivators, leaders and teachers who guide 6th/7th graders to discover what it takes to be successful in middle school. We will be having a kick-off day in August for all incoming 6th grade students to help them become part of our fabric at DMS.

WEB leader selection takes place in the spring of each year.

Qualities of a WEB Leader include:

• Kindness
• Strong communications skills
• Willingness to lead others
• Responsible enough to manage a group
• Accountable to show up throughout all phases of the program during the year
• Willing to take risks
• Interest in helping others
• Positive role model
• Dedicated
• Self-confident and self-directed
• Has respect for diverse ideas and personalities
• Enthusiastic
