7th Grade Washington DC Trip – June 2017
Dodge and Boeckman Middle Schools are once again providing interested and qualifying seventh grade students the opportunity to learn about history and government in the best possible way – through experience. Students will embark on a 6-day/5-night trip to Washington, D.C. in June 2017 and experience sites, such as the White House, U.S. Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Gettysburg, meetings with our elected officials, and much, much more.
The trip is limited to 20-25 students from each school, so students must apply to be considered.
How do students apply?
Students get an application form from their History teacher and complete it by Thursday, November 10. The application process also includes writing a brief essay and being interviewed, and is further described in the application form. Students will be informed if they have been selected for the trip by mid-December.
The trip cost will be approximately $2,000, which includes airfare, lodging, ground transportation, most meals, and all entrance fees to exhibits and museums. (Specific costs will be determined once the travel arrangements have been finalized.) One fundraiser will be organized for the group and all group members will be required to participate.
Farmington middle schools have offered this trip to students for over 15 years and it continues to be a highlight of students’ middle school experience. Questions about the trip should be directed to Curt Gutoske, 8th grade teacher and trip coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
