Chris Bussmann, Principal

Chris Bussmann began his educational career as a high school social studies teacher in the Kenyon-Wanamingo School District. During this time, Mr. Bussmann completed his master's degree in educational leadership at the University of Minnesota, Mankato.

In 2000, he became an 8th grade Social Studies teacher in Marshall, Minnesota and continued work on his administrative degree. In 2002 he received his administrative license from the University of Minnesota, Mankato and was promoted to Assistant Principal of Marshall's Middle Schools. Mr. Bussmann received the honor of Assistant Principal of the Year for Southwestern Minnesota in 2005 and joined Farmington Area Public Schools as Assistant Principal at Farmington Middle School East in July 2005.

In 2009 Mr. Bussmann became Principal of the newly reconfigured Levi P. Dodge Middle School, formerly Farmington Middle School West.

Since 2006, Mr. Bussmann has served on the board of directors for the Minnesota Middle School Association, an organization that serves as an education resource for teachers, administrators, parents, and community members who advocate for the developmental needs of young adolescents in grades 5-9.  He has been elected to serve as the President of the statewide organization from 2016 through 2018.

In his spare time Mr. Bussmann enjoys cycling, mountain biking, landscaping, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.



Karl Kaste, Assistant Principal

Karl Kaste began his career in the St. Paul Public Schools, working as a special education assistant, wrestling coach, and business teacher.  He moved with his family and continued his teaching career in Omaha, Nebraska in 2002.  There he decided to pursue an MS degree in education administration and has spent the past five years as a middle school administrator in the roles of athletic director, teacher evaluator, and behavior interventionist.

In addition to his degree in administration, Mr. Kaste earned his undergraduate degree from Hamline University and holds an M.Ed. in business education from the University of Minnesota. 

Away from school, Mr. Kaste enjoys time with his family, often travelling with his wife and three young children to Northwest Minnesota, and now Omaha, NE, to visit family.   He also enjoys running, golf, Twins Baseball, and reading.
